I attended my first flute circle in Puyallup, WA in 2013. Prior to that, I had been playing primarily on my own and this first flute circle was a significant turning point in my musical journey. I discovered that there were these gatherings where flute players sit in a circle and take turns playing. Sometimes they play solo, sometimes with other flute players, and sometimes with other instruments. The whole goal is to play, to share music, and to support each other’s growth. My heart and my flute felt like we’d found a new home.
